Working Visit in Brussels for Graduates of the Academy for Municipality Policy

A group of 28 mayors and municipality councilors, graduates of the "Academy for Municipal Policy - 2012" (AMP) will participate in a working visit in Brussels on November 14-15. The joint pilot project of ISI and "Friedrich Ebert" Foundation is in its final stage for the year. The visit is part of the Academy's training program and a symbolic prize for the participants who achieved the highest results in the project.

The visit follows the invitation of Mr. Evgeni Kirilov - MEP Group of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament and member of the General Assembly of ISI. The group will visit both the European Parliament, where it will attend a meeting of the S&D Group, and the European Commission. There, the participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussion on topics of regional policy, employment policy and social issues, with Bulgaria in focus.

Special emphasis of the program of the visit is placed on local government and local authorities. In this regard, our mayors and municipality councilors will meet the mayor of Brussels, Mr. Freddy Thielemans, in the City Hall at "Grand Place". The meeting will discuss issues related to the management of municipalities as well as citizens' participation in them. Some of the participants have already sent the topics that they would like to be placed in the discussion.

The group will also participate in a conference, marking the 70th anniversary of the shooting of Nikola Vaptsarov, organized on the initiative of the MEP Evgeni Kirilov. A group of Bulgarian intellectuals will be among the participants, including Leda Mileva, Boyko Lambovski and others.
