European Seminar on Validation of Non-Formal Learning
European Seminar on Validation of Non-Formal Learning

On 13 and 14 January in Brussels, a European seminar was held on validation of non-formal and informal learning (NFIL) within the project "Building Learning Societies”. The project is coordinated by the European Network Solidar, and beneficiary of the project is the French organization "La Ligue de l'enseignement" - France. ISI is one of the nine partners in it.

The event was attended by the expert Lilia Elenkova and the project manager for the Bulgarian side, Stefan Georgiev. The main objective of the forum was to present national practices and stages of the process of validation and recognition of NFIL in the different countries involved in the project.

Along with the presentation of the Bulgarian case by Lily Elenkova, presentations were given by the partners from Sweden, France, UK and Greece. Widely discussed were the scope, the target group and the possible approaches to NFIL validation, both at national and European level. The seminar was also joined by European experts - representatives of the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP), the Flemish Ministry of Education and Training, and the European Civil Society Platform on Lifelong Learning (EUCIS-LLL).

The seminar raised current issues from national decisions on the subject; it also revealed the different speed at which the validation process was being developed in the EU countries. The participants reached an agreement for cooperation and common coordinated actions for the next months of the project.
