Partnership in countering terrorism: role of civil society organizations and social media

The European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP) in partnership with the Institute for Social Integration and the Liberal Politological Institute organized an International conference on "Partnership in countering terrorism: the role of civil society organizations and social media."

The event aimed at providing an opportunity for discussion and debate on issues such as: What is the relationship and the correlation between ''freedom'' and “security'' in countering terrorism? How do national governments address the issue of terrorism and how can they balance “freedom'' and “security''? Can we talk about ''shrinking of space'' for NGOs in some Member States in relation to the new legislation aimed at improving security? How can we achieve synergy and partnership in fighting terrorism? How can governments interact with civil society organizations to ensure greater coherence in policies? As a link between political figures and civil society, what is the role of civil society organizations and social media in countering terrorism?

Katia Koleva, Chairman of the Board of ISI, opened the forum. "Our entire activity is focused on the interaction between civil society organizations and politicians so that laws can respond to the interests of citizens. We do not politicize the process, we defend the interests of citizens." said Koleva.
